Cricket
In the cricket seasons of 2004 and 2005 I was the Channel 4 cricket reporter online. I had to write session and daily reports, then ghost the columns of commentators, including Geoffrey Boycott, Simon Hughes and Mark Nicholas. I then was editor and main writer of the Channel 5 cricket website between 2006 and 2013. This was similar to the C4 job. I've also written features for cricket magazines. I now play cricket rather than writing about it. But I reported on about 50 Test matches live and loved every minute. Here are a few examples of cricket writing.

The arts

I'm passionate about the arts. When I trained as a reporter at the Scunthorpe Evening Telegraph, I was arts editor and theatre reviewer. I interviewed major playwrights, including Alan Ayckbourn and John Godber. I've included one of my reviews of an amateur dramatics' performance. Then, in London, I was a reviewer of London theatre for The Irish Post newspaper. There are reviews of Samuel Beckett plays and Seamus Heaney poetry readings. I've also written about the arts on a freelance basis, such as the feature interview with the major French novelist Michel Houellebecq for the Irish Times.
